Kuala Lumpur, May 2012 – After Years of establishment and successful events on supporting and advancing the community of Malaysian Arts, House of MATAHATI continues its tradition of support with “Young & New Part IV”, a continuation of a series of shows that features young, new and promising talents of Malaysian Visual Arts.
The exhibition - the fourth of the series - aims to promotes and encourages the growth of the art scene, by providing a platform of introduction and appreciation for the young and emerging Malaysian Artist. A group of promising talents are hand-picked from a list of submissions, that best describes the landscape of Malaysian arts and possesses potential for growth and advancements.
Many of these artists have also proved their consistency of involvement in the art scene, by joining various group shows nationwide, participating in art related events or management, as well as having some of their works collected. This is but some of the criteria that is expected in the search for these emerging young talents.
Part I, II and III of the “Young & New” series of exhibition was launched in the year of 2008 and 2009. The series continues in 2012 which includes luminary artists such as Muhammad Akmal Asyraf, Edroger C. Rosli, Fadli Mokhtar, Aely Ahmad, Low Chee Peng, Azharuddin Mappon, Azzad Diah Ahmad Zabidi, and Mohd Firdaus Ismail.
Young and New Part IV is not only intended to be a mere visual showcase, but as a platform of assessment for the scene, besides discovery of fertile grounds by new or senior art collectors and academicians alike.
Opening for the exhibition will be held at May 10th, 2012. The show will run throughout the month. Admissions are free, and all are openly invited to the opening. Appointments and visits for private viewings are also welcomed.
