PAKSI Jogja Journal


Paksi is a group of emerging artists residing in Meru, Klang comprising Arikwibowo Amril, Mohd Akhir Ahmad and Khairul Arshad. Following their debut exhibition entitled Berdiri at HOM Art Trans in 2015, Paksi returns with Jogja Journal to showcase a new body of work inspired by their recent sojourn in Jogjakarta, Indonesia.The month long residency at Perahu Art, Jogjakarta in February 2016 ignited artistic motivation for the trio. The purpose of the programme was to expand their perspective not only in artistic realm but also understanding the dynamics of working as a group. Although each artist works independently and possess unique styles of their own, the group is bound by generating ideas together and exchanges of discourse.



Mohd Akhir Ahmad


Mohd Akhir Ahmad received his Diploma in Fine Art at UiTM Seri Iskandar in 2009. He then continues to pursue his Bachelor (Hons.) in Fine Art where he graduated in 2012. Born in 1986 in Teluk Kumbar, Penang, Mohd Akhir Ahmad has been actively participating inexhibition since 2011 where he start joined 'Open Show' at Galeri Shah Alam. Since then, he has been participating in various group exhibitions such as 'Green' at Galeri TAKSU, 'Ruang Momentum Awal' at Morne Art Gallery, 'Spice' at Nadine Fine Art, 'Meru' at Segaris Art Center and also 'Melukis Puisi: Sebuah Pencitraan Puisi-puisi Pyanhabib'. In 2012, Mohd Akhir has given the chance to participate in a residency program organized by Morne Art Gallery, Kuala Lumpur. He also had his first solo exhibitions at R.A.Fine Arts in 2013 entitled 'Freezing the Moment'.

Arikwibowo Amril

Hailing from Batu Caves, Arikwibowo Amril (b. 1989)finished his Diploma in Fine Art at UiTM Lendu, Melaka in 2009. Then, he continues his Bachelor(Hons.) in Fine Art at UiTM ShahAlam graduating in 2012. Active in the art scene since 2010 with more than 30 exhibitions around the Klang Valley where some of it were 'Locals Only' in Galeri TAKSU, 'The Door II : Plight' & 'The Door III : Initiation' at HOM Art Trans, '4WARD' at Segaris Art Center, 'Configuration' at G13 Gallery, and '99 Nama Allah' at Galeri Chandanto name a few. Arikwibowo also has exhibited his work in Jogjakarta inconjunction with ARtJog 2015. Other than participating in exhibition, Arikwibowo also has joined a few residency programs where one of it was at Morne Art Gallery in 2012 and the latest one being NAFA’S in Jogjakarta where he stayed for one month in 2015. He is also received the Consolation Prize for 1MCAT Contemporary Art that was held by Balai Seni Visual Negara, Kuala Lumpur.

Khairul Arshad


Khairul Arshad was born in Segamat, Johor in 1987 and he received his Bachelor (Hons.) in Fine Art in 2010 at UiTM Shah Alam just before he received his Diploma in Fine Art in 2008 at UiTM Alor Gajah, Melaka. He has been actively participating in exhibition around Kuala Lumpur where some of it was 'Palette' at Star Hill Gallery, 'Young Contemporary Art' at Nadine Fine Art, 'Pop Up' at HOM Art Trans, 'Piece of Me' at WhiteBox@Publika. Other than Malaysia, Khairul also got the chance to exhibit in 'Art KL-Melbourne' in 2014 that was organized by Space@Collins in Melbourne, Australia. He also was the Second Runner up in Tanjung Heritage Art Competition in 2007.
