WISH ME LUCK


Wish Me Luck is an art exhibition involving eight local young talents that have shown potential and have been shortlisted from the Young & New 2017 organized by HOM earlier this year. Most of them are recent graduates from two of the local university which are Universiti Teknologi Mara and Dasein Academy of Art. The exhibition consist of artists namely Aizat Ahremi, Suhana Nordin, Husna Abdul Rahman, Joy Ng, Shirhan Samsul Bahri, Nor Tijan Firdaus, Sze Lin Liew & Anis Che Mat.

In line with HOM’s core objective, this exhibition is to elevate these potential young artists into a broader audience. They have shown their skills in creating artworks and have been given a chance to elaborate more to the audience about their body of work. This will also be the chance for them to advance further in their artistic career and injecting them with more passion in making artworks.

Wish Me Luck will be showing at HOM Art Trans from 3 – 14 Oct 2017 with its opening happening on Tuesday, 3 October 2017, 8:30 PM at HOM Art Trans Kuala Lumpur.

Aizat Ahremi b. 1991
Born in Klang in 1993, Aizat Ahremi began his formal art education at UiTM Shah Alam graduating from B.A. (Hons.) in Fine Art in 2016. During his study, he joined the management team for two of Awang Damit’s exhibitions entitled Bio Retro and Payarama Putih. A new face in the art scene, Aizat’s mainly focuses on collage and uses surplus fabric as his medium due to his attempt to elevate them to a conventional new dimension. His works was exhibited in SAS Project, Art Charity Exhibitions at Galeri Alam Impian, Shah Alam in 2016 and Young & New 2017 in HOM Art Trans, KL early this year.

Anis Che Mat b. 1992
Originally from Kuala Krai, Kelantan, 25 years old Anis Che Mat recently graduated with Master of Fine Art & Technology from UiTM Jalan Othman, KL in 2017. Active in the art scene since 2010, he has joined various art competitions in Malaysia such as Nando’s Art Competition and Citra Terengganu in 2014 where he got shortlisted and winning Major Award in Penang Art Open.  Anis was also one of the finalists for French Malaysian Young Competition by National Visual Art Gallery in 2015.
Aside from joining competition, he also exhibited his works in galleries around KL such as Urban Art II at Galeri Pelita Hati, Platform II at Galeri Chandan, Behaviour at Artemis Gallery and Legacy at ASWARA Gallery to name a few.
Anis’ artworks tend to use narcissism as concept and referring to social and political issues happening in Malaysia. He incorporated various disciplines and materials in his artworks such as oil paint, leather, metal, installations and also performance art.

Husna Abdul Rahman
Hailing from Melaka, Husna Abdul Rahman began her art education at UiTM Melaka where she got her Diploma in Fine Art in 2013 and she then further her study acquiring her B.A. (Hons.) in Fine Art from UiTM Sri Iskandar, Perak in 2016.
Her debut exhibition in the art field was at the Open Exhibition held at Galeri Seni Melaka. Aside from joining exhibition, Husna also participates in art activites such as mural, art booth and art camp. Her most recent exhibition was at HOM Art Trans, KL entitled Young & New 2017.

Joy Ng
Joy Ng, an emerging artist who lives and works in KL graduated from Dasein Academy of Art in 2016 with her Diploma in Fine Art. Since then, she has participated in several competitions such as Vision Petron National Art Competition in 2015 where she was the finalist.
Her works were also exhibited in Journey to Happiness by Petron Malaysia at Pavillion KL in 2015, Homework Display in Leisure Mall Cheras and Tanjong Heritage by Tanjong Public Limited Company in Hotel Maya, KL.
Her works focuses on painting and drawing with her theme portraying human in their deepest emotion. She uses contrast featuring colourful and bright palettes to reflect melancholic states.

Nor Tijan Firdaus b. 1986
Nor Tijan Firdaus was born in 1986, Klang graduated her B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art Majoring in Sculpture in 2009 and she then pursues her Masters in Fine Art & Technology where she completed it in 2015. She got involved in the art scene since 2007 and participated in competitions such as Mekarcitra at Galeri Shah Alam in 2010 and Expression of Malaysian Tiger in 2011 where she was the finalist.
She also actively participates in various exhibitions around Klang Valley where her works were shown in Urban Art II at Pelita Hati, KL, X Canvas at Core Design Gallery, Subang, Locals Only at Gallerie TAKSU, KL and also Citra Wanita at ASWARA, KL.
As an artist, Nor Tijan has experimented with form-making for almost five years before emerging with her current style. Her experiment with form making is her attempt to interrogate about the topic of consumerism and using found objects to explain about something left behind.

Shirhan Samsul Bahri b. 1994
Shirhan Samsul Bahri was born in 1994, Melaka and he is a graduates from UiTM gaining his Diploma in Fine Arts at UITM Melaka in 2014 and his B.A. (Hons.) in Fine Art in 2017 at UiTM Shah Alam. He has participated in some exhibitions since 2014 such as SAS Project, Art Charity Exhibitions at Galeri Alam Impian, Shah Alam in 2016, Laka Seni Silang Budaya at Shah Alam Museum, Selangor and also a group exhibition involving his studio mate entitled JOURNEY at Port Commune, Petaling Jaya. His works were also exhibited in School of Thought Exhibition held by Segaris Art Center at WhiteBox@Publika in 2017.

Suhana Nordin b. 1980
Introduced in art by getting her Diploma in Interior Design at UiTM Shah Alam in 2002, Suhana Nordin (b. 1980) acquired her B.A. (Hons.) in Fine Art, Majoring in Painting in 2010 where she then acquired her Masters in Art & Design at UiTM Shah Alam in 2017.
Suhana’s has been exhibiting her works since 2009 in exhibitions such as Open Show at Galeri Pelita Hati, Young & New Part IV at HOM Art Trans, KL, Nature at Galeri Alam Impian, Selangor and Ilham VIII at Galeri Pelita Hati.
Recently finished her Masters, Suhana method in art creation is a combination of painting and sculpture, physical and illusion and geometrical and gestures. The combination defines the dynamics structure of differences in searching the equilibrium of living. She believes that every living thing have their own dynamic structure to live in a chaotic world like today.

Sze Lin Liew
Born in Kuala Lumpur, Sze Lin Liew is a graduate from Dasein Academy of Art where she acquired her Diploma in Fine Arts in 2010. Currently living and working in Kuala Lumpur, the emerging artist works primarily in oils where she often employs bold colours and creates figurative, rendered forms. Sze Lin uses this style to explore painting as a field and medium for subtle and refined sensibility. Her work was recently exhibited in Young & New 2017 in HOM Art Trans, Kuala Lumpur.
