JULAI IN SEPTEMBER: E-Invite

‘Julai In September’
HOM’s latest exhibition brings the July alumni from Faculty of Art & Design UiTM, Shah Alam

Kuala Lumpur, September 2013 - JULAI is a collaboration of former students from various courses in the Faculty of Art & Design UiTM, Shah Alam who attended the July 1987 session. It was conceived as an effort to bring the July ’87 alumni together to support each other in producing exhibition-worthy art and design.

The original idea was to regroup the members of ‘REUNION’, class graduates from July 1987. Kick started in 2006 by Nizam Rahmat and the first reunion was in July 2006. A memorable event held by a friend, Ng Seksan, at Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

“This inaugural meet-up was aptly named ‘JULAI’ to commemorate the time of entry into campus life. Officiated by the respected Allahyarham Prof. Dr Thamyez Bajuri” – Nizam Rahmat

‘JULAI’ succeeded to bring old friends back together namely Ahmad Shukri Mohamed, HamirSoib, Suzlee Ibrahim, Masnoor Ramli, Nizam Rahmat  and Fausin Md Isa. Unfortunately, making his mark in England was Bayu Utomo Radjikin while Ahmad Fuad Osman was residing in Korea, were unable to join.

BSVN is hosting an exclusive exhibition at MAP KL and Publika, showcasing 50 artists. The exhibition attempts to encapsulate the aspirations of contemporary Malaysia and articulate the new spirit, 50 years after its birth as a nation state.

Running from Sept. 21- Oct. 31, the exhibition covers a broad spectrum of genres and features the latest work by individuals from the group JULAI. The theme touches on current world affairs viewed through the artist’s eyes.

“‘July in September’ exhibition shows the unfaltering friendship and connection established more than 20 years ago.
