Adopted Residency (A-RES) is a six-month residency programme designed for young and emerging local artists to start creating their name and building their own career in the local art scene.
The programme emphasizes on committed studio practice that serves as guidance in art direction and technique for the resident artists, fully supervised by HOM Art Trans and guest artists. They will also be exposed to the reality of being a full time artists.
Towards the end of the programme, all the artworks that are produced during the residency will be exhibited for public viewing.
Wong Ming Hao
Wong Ming Hao was born in 1988 in Pahang. He Works primarily with watercolour and acrylic painting. His passion of art started with the experience of seeing a dragon which was drawn by his father since primary school. He practiced his drawing every day without any art tutor. Indeed, comics and books were Ming Hao’s constant teacher.
In 2007 he fulfilled his passion at Dasein Academy Of Art for 3 years and received a diploma of Fine art. After graduating, he worked as a freelancer of mural painting, sculpture, illustration and art educator of Passion Art Studio for the past 3 years. He is currently an art mentor of Undo Creative Workshop.
He has participated in several competitions such as Tanjong Heritage by Tanjong Public Limited Company in 2010 where he was the third prize winner in Oil/Acrylic media. His works were also exhibited in Starhill gallery Visual Arts Awards(VAA) 2010 at Starhill Gallery in 2010, Pop Up show 2015 at The Gallery Starhill in 2015, Young & New 2017 in HOM Art Trans.
His works seek to capture the emotional sense towards the elements that surround him. They are inspired by the people around the artist, current happenings in the society, life experiences and the conscious or sub-conscious awareness from his old memories. Currently he is working mainly in acrylic painting.
“I want the subject of my paintings to be real, not only in their physical appearances, but also the reflection of my personal perception towards the images and the mental penetration which is depicted by the medium and the expressional techniques,” says Ming Hao.
Joy Ng
Joy Ng, an emerging artist who lives and works in KL graduated from Dasein Academy of Art in 2016 with her Diploma in Fine Art. Since then, she has participated in several competitions such as Tanjong Heritage by Tanjong Public Limited Company in 2015 where she was the third prize winner in Mixed Media.
Her works were also exhibited in Art With Heart exhibition, at RHB Bank HQ in 2017, Young and New in HOM Art Trans, Journey to Happiness by Petron Malaysia at Pavillion KL in 2015, Homework Display in Leisure Mall Cheras and Tanjong Heritage by Tanjong Public Limited Company in Hotel Maya, KL.
Her works focuses on painting and drawing with her theme portraying human in their deepest emotion. She uses contrast featuring colourful and bright palettes to reflect melancholic states.
