HOM Gallery proudly presents Chetak 12 third annual exhibition entitled 3rd Edition: Love Song, featuring a collaboration by Malaysian and Indonesian print collectives: Chetak 12 and Studio Grafis Minggiran. The exhibition showcases the 3rd edition of each series prints reproduced.
The theme Love Song reflects a quest to discover and explore different perceptions within a form of art close to our hearts: songs. Music and lyrics in a song have been in our lives for as long as we remember; for some of us, the lullabies of our childhood still linger in our distant memories. Looking beyond the surface, love can pose a diverse range of meaning; it is rich with questions, debates, and expressions of life. Thus, from lyrics of hopes, dreams, and ambitions, to the underlying social and political questions woven into strings of poetic words, love songs have the power to awaken passion among us. With the abundance of serenades and ballads which have graced our world today, love songs are indeed timeless and rich.

CHETAK 12
Chetak 12 is a printmaking studio that is run by an artist collective based in Kuala Lumpur. Established in 2017, the founders of the studio are Malaysian artists Bayu Utomo Radjikin, Samsudin Wahab, and Faizal Suhif, all of whom are graduates of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam.
The collective’s core mission is to preserve and celebrate traditional printmaking techniques, as well as to share printmaking knowledge with the public. The studio also aims to become a space for Malaysian printmakers to meet, share ideas, and collaborate in projects.
By establishing itself as a place where ideas are shared and knowledge exchanged, Chetak 12 provides a platform for fellow artists to hone and practice their printmaking skills. In the spirit of educating the local community, the studio also welcomes members of the public to the space by frequently hosting workshops, demonstrations, and talks. Additionally, they offer professional printmaking consultation for individuals and institutions.
Chetak 12 is dedicated to building professional relationships with printmaking communities from the Southeast Asia region. They have opened their doors to international printmakers by initiating residency programmes and exhibition collaborations during their annual shows; the collective has engaged with artists from Indonesia and Philippines thus far.
STUDIO GRAFIS MINGGIRAN
Studio Grafis Minggiran is an artist collective and workshop space based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, that focuses on developing art works using printmaking techniques. Established in 2001, Grafis Minggiran was initiated by graduates of the Fine Art - Printmaking faculty of the renowned Indonesia Institute of Art (ISI) Yogyakarta.
Over the years, Grafis Minggiran has grown to become a workshop and creative workspace, which can be accessed by anyone who is interested and supports the development of Printmaking as an art form, backed with our team of Artists-Mentors with strong mastery in the field.
The collective is heavily involved in group exhibitions, art projects, and also hosts education programs that bring technical workshops and live demonstrations to places, involving participants from artist groups, high schools and colleges, as well as the local community.
Grafis Minggiran has also taken part in collaborative work with various art communities, built networks with other foundations and strives to be one of the well-established Printmaking laboratories in Indonesia.
